Hello,
This is directed to the noob's.
I can appreciate your enthusiasm with elite military units. However please do NOT attempt to pass your self off as a Military Veteran! You see, while its great to dream and aspire to greatness. Honor is achieved not self acclaimed. As it may not seem "that big a deal" To some of us it is! So if this offends you GREAT!!! YOU ARE OF WHOM I SPEAK!
We "Real Veterans" paid a price you can only know through your video game achievements. A GOOGLE EDUCATION in military matters will only get you so far... Like a couple of mis-placed sentences, and looking silly in front of others. Now being prideful as most of everyone is to some degree, can cause conflict. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS!!!
Most Airsofters are civilian. With all due respect...
Civilian Vs. Battle Hardened Soldier ... Not a good outcome.
Now that is a real situation I observed firsthand. And the "Nameless Civi" Didn't realize the guy he was arguing with and attempted to push was in fact a off duty Police Officer.
You guys have to be .. I dont want to say "careful" but, Maybe more "AWARE"
So out of respect for those who have fallen for their Country.
Just Don't.

Does this also go for the people who did supply or logistics in the military but act like they were rangers, seals or other elite special forces?

PFC DeathDealer0726       Posted: 20:15:00 on 03-06-2010
If you were attached to a unit you had to hold your own!
This is for those who didn't serve at all.
Combat service support is a absolute necessary.

Seriously? I mean NO one gets more disgusted with people dishonoring our troops by pretending to be military than I do. I really feel that these fakes are the lowest of the low. Trying to steal the honor and well deserved thanks of the men and women who put their very lives and the emotions of their families on the line day after day is, frankly, just beyond despicable. These people should have to spend just one day in those shoes. I have zero military or law enforcement experience but I am ridiculously supportive of both. I appreciate all that you guys do and make sure to show how much every chance I get. I think the vets here that know me, know that much.

That said: Was your blanket threat really required? Haven't we grown up past the "I can beat you up" stage? Great, you can kick the ass of someone with less training than you. Shouldn't you be more proud of looking them in the eye telling them off, and walking away the bigger man? Isn't that where honor lies?

In addition... perhaps you should consider that there are as many airsoft vets that are full of $#^& as there are noobs. I don't think its fair to lay this on them or particularly welcoming. I understand that you probably have one particular person or persons in mind, but try to remember that the vast majority of new players are respectful to and thankful for our armed services.

I understand your post (OP) so dont think i was being an ass, but there are a lot of players who act like theyre commandos and all they did was toss boxes on shelves.

At my last company it seemed like everyone was a marine in the sales pit. They all started giving me shit one day about being AF. So i asked what they did... "Logistics" "Supply" "Warehouse" etc were the answers. I was like I worked explosives, and you worked a warehouse and youre giving me shit?!

Some of the civilian guys playing are just as capable as military guys also.

PFC DeathDealer0726       Posted: 20:41:00 on 03-06-2010
Its no threat Master Sgt. I feel that's far off place. I mentioned Awareness. I encounter many airsoft players with overly cocky attitudes looking to prove something. I want newer people to fully understand some ramifications of their aggressive behavior. You may be supportive but I feel missing the big picture. How else can adults get information out to others if they never say anything?

CPT FA-Tony       Posted: 20:43:00 on 03-06-2010
Daniel we have gone through this many times in the past with certain players,They are no longer with us now. I know when I am talking to a player and what he says gives him away.Anyways most Military personnel really don't say much other that they are or were in the military, Its the guys who brag about where they have been and what they have done and tells everyone who will listen. We have means on checking these folks out and believe me I have called bullshit on many players..most vets here already know that.

A1C TEDDER1       Posted: 20:48:00 on 03-06-2010
I feel it isnt really pertinent information anyway... I dont want recognition or glory. I did it for school. Although i am happy when I get that GI Bill money every month!

Can't make a person anything more than what they want to be... even idiots.

Liars will lie...regardless of honor and respect.

Complaining about noobs and impersonators on a forum almost nevers fixes the issues... not here in FL anyway.

Kicking someone's ass may not be the most mature thing to do but has always been viewed as very effective method of behavioral change for the subject receiving it.

Just some points I wanted to enhance on from this thread.

Play on...

I know you must have seen it a hundred times Tony.
I was at a local Airsoft mecca. And it was packed with people ,mention of FloridaAirsoft.com with a lot of interest to find a local forum, teams, etc. A few mins later, a overly enthusiastic Airsofter was arrested for assault on a LEO.

PFC DeathDealer0726       Posted: 20:59:00 on 03-06-2010
Hence my inspiration to publish a topic.

See, nature's natural selection took the idiot away. Hope the idiot has a good attorney.

Tony has a strong throwing arm when he throws that BS flag on the play!

i LOVE natural selection and the irony it displays.

PFC Gopblin       Posted: 22:05:00 on 03-06-2010
I hate people trying to show off or pretend to be something that they're not. Thankfully, I haven't seen much of that in airsoft. Also, when I did it wasn't coming from the first-timers - people are naturally timid in an unfamiliar environment.

Its usually people with some airsoft experience that are older/stronger than their opponent that start conflicts, because they feel they can win them. It's not like an 18 yr old kid at his first game is gonna give s**t to a 200-pound Marine vet.

BTW, how can someone be charged with assaulting LEO when he did not know the guy was an officer?

Best wishes,
Daniel.

CPT FA-Tony       Posted: 22:08:00 on 03-06-2010
My feelings on this matter is that i appreciate all our military past and present as well as LEO.

But this is airsoft and that's all it is,a place to meet new friends and to have a fucking great time!!!!

PFC DeathDealer0726       Posted: 22:09:00 on 03-06-2010
He persisted on pushing the uniformed officer as well while tryin to make his way out the door.

CPT FA-Tony       Posted: 22:10:00 on 03-06-2010
He cant he has to identify himself as an officer, if hes in plain clothes.

CPT FA-Tony       Posted: 22:12:00 on 03-06-2010
Well then if the officer was in uniform all you have to do is touch him and that can be considered assault on an officer which is a felony. Its all in how the officer decided to deal with him.

PFC DeathDealer0726       Posted: 08:50:00 on 03-07-2010
CORRECT!
As the kid tried to leave patrolmen were coming in. The kid pushed through and that was game over!

SGT Guumba       Posted: 23:41:00 on 03-08-2010
Downside to playing in Hawaii. You can expect at least half the players on a field to be military. And with four conflicting branches. Pretty much everyone is quick to throw the dick down on the table.

CPT FA-Tony       Posted: 04:01:00 on 03-09-2010
Yea but come on Guummba I have seen you throw down the dick plenty of times not to mention falling asleep in a firefight, Bet you didn't do that in IRAQ!!LOL
Say hello to Michelle and give the baby a kiss for me.
why don't you catch a hop and come in for Blanding.
Airsoft is fucking humongous here now, 400FPS limit across the board and we have some new interesting things going on.
Did you see your pic in Iraq on the 50 on UAL? its on the home page about halfway down.

We all miss you brother.

I would have to agree that its usually the guys that have been playing a while that start trouble. They think they are the best, and they want everyone to know it. I have seen on several occasions guys trying to play off that they were in the military. (one guy didnt even know what to say when we asked what base he was stationd at, LOL!!) It drives me nuts. I myself am not in the military, and i thank all the vets who are or were. On the other side (and im not saying any of the guys on here do, especially since i havent met anyone on here) when military guys think they are better then anyone else who may come to play, and constantly want to mouth off about it, that gets anoying too. It was wonderful when i saw a guy with absolutely no training (other then playing airsoft) be the last remaining member on a team i was on, and he took out 8 guys on the other team. Including 2 military members, one of which was going on and on about how great he was, and how he had so much extensive cqc training (the place i play here is all cqc). He never came back to play, the other military member laughed his ass off when he found the guy had no training. He plays weekly now. Everyone should have good attitudes at the games civi or military. Everybody is going to take hits, and everybody is going to have those games where they eliminate a lot of people... And anyone not military that tries to play it off is going to get called out on anyway, so whats the point....

On a side note. Some of the cops in the area i play in are pretty well known for being a little on the crooked side of things. At a game we had a few officers there. Well one of them felt they were shot to close a few times, along with a few other problems, and pulled out his real pistol, pointed it at a 19 year old, and started yelling at him (round in the chamber, safety off). The other officers watched for about a minute before stepping in, getting the officer to lower the gun, and they all left. Stuff like that takes all the fun out of it. Even small arguments take all the fun out of it. So just have fun, save it for the field!!

Hummmmmm.... Seems like we have this same conversation at least once every few months.

All I have to say is this....

Give respect where it's deserved. As retired LEO myself, we have earned that respect every day, the same as Military. They say that "imitation is the greatest form of flattery." I disagree.... Walk a mile in my shoes and then we will talk........

It's airsoft people. A game that relies on honesty and integrity.... How do we keep overlooking that simple fact?

PFC shinkic2005       Posted: 10:19:00 on 03-31-2010
Telling a liar to have respect an honor just seems like such a waste of breath. Well intentioned though, but a waste.

I often think of how it would feel to be laying in a ditch full of adrenaline and fear at getting shot for real rather then with 6mm plastic that simply sends you to wander back to respawn.

Obviously it's not a feeling I'd ever wish on anyone. As such, I have a lot of respect for people who have actually been in such a situation. We certainly owe these men and women for what they have done to allow us to live and enjoy our own personal freedoms, even if sometimes those freedoms include the right to be a douchebag... :-/

what brought this on???? i see the same thing going on with the "more experienced" airsoft players not so much the new players. A friend of mine was in recon and raiders and i didn't even know it till i went over his house and saw his certificates hanging on the wall and when i asked him he was like no big deal it was just a job i did to help people.I tell you these guys are really laid back and to say you were something and be some-were you were not is kind of sad to have to build yourself to be rambo or something IT'S A SPORT play it as such have a good time and relax.

I served maybe 2 years in a reserve medical unit back in the very early nineties right before the gulf war. If you wanted out they were happy to oblige. I had hurt my leg so I wasn't passing PT's and I hated the sitting around on a weekend BS of the reserves so I opted out(General discharge as I had finished basic the summer between jr. and sr. year in HS but never did AIT). I normally don't even mention it because it was no big deal like some of the guys especially now that go out and get shot up. I couldn't imagine running around telling people I was an elite SF type. I play a grown up game of cowboys and indians with a toy gun. It's make believe not the real world.
